Welcome

This is the main index for the Job Scheduler documentation. At this stage it's basically a straight port from the now discontinued .txt manuals, with a few links thrown in to help you get where you need to go as quickly as possible.

This Job Scheduler application is copyright Mark Dickinson 2000 thru 2007 (although the first public release wasn't until 2005, it was written for my own use but when the bells and whistles list got too large I thought others might like it as well).
It was going to be shareware due to the time I spent on this, but as I am using a lot of free stuff put out by the linux comunities myself, what the heck; it's free, source included.

The author and copyright holder is not aware of any problems with the software at the time of release with the exception of those in the known bug's document. Read the known bug's document, it does contain important information about this release.

To change between manuals just select the manual of choice from the Manuals Available menu option. The index for the currently selected manual will always be inserted between the 'help' and 'manuals available' entries at the top of the screen to provide a quick way of selecting the specific chapter you are interested in.

The help menu option has the quick How do I for links to most of the common tasks you will need, and a quick reference of common error messages.

I have sucessfully compiled and used this under Linux Fedora Core 2,3,6 and Solaris 8 with the GNU C compilers up to GCC version 3.4.2 only. Something in GCC 4.1.1 broke it badly even though it cleany compiles, this may be a Fedora 6 issue or a GCC issue; but see the known bugs for details and workarounds.
