WordPress runs like a dog without internet access. I had powered off my network routers, as I’m nice to other internet users and didn’t want my internal host discovery\/penetration testing etc to spill outside my own network… and wordpress just hangs for minutes. I know it tries to go and check for updates etc but really, it must make a lot of internet requests every time a admin user logs on.<\/p>\n
Ohh, after about 5mins it tells me wordpress news isn’t available. I’ll have to find out how to turn that off.<\/p>\n
I think I’ll wireshark it over the weekend. For offline use at least wordpress.org and planet.wordpress.org will need overriding.<\/p>\n
And it appears it tries to access the internet from every page, even selecting the add a new post option is just waiting, waiting.<\/p>\n
