11.1 Alert Server Binaries

These are in the main alert toolkit installation directory.

• alert_collector_server
  Syntax: alert_collector_server [ port [ ipaddrtolistenon ] ]
  Example: ./alert_collector_server 9003 169.218.154.30
• alert_console
  Syntax: alert_console port ipaddress [ONCEONLY] [LINELEN=nn] [NUMLINES=nn] [BLINKOFF]]
  Example: example:alert_console 9003 169.218.154.30 NUMLINES=20
• clean_shutdown
  Syntax: clean_shutdown port ipaddr
  Example: clean_shutdown 9003 169.218.154.30
• log_parser
  This is quite complicated, refer to the full manual page
• raise_alert
  Syntax: raise_alert portnum ipaddr critical|warning|harmless|info|logonly|clearall key "text"
  Example: raise_alert 9003 169.218.154.30 critical TEST_1 "Test alert"
• reload_alerts
  Syntax: reload_alerts port ipaddr logfile Example: ./reload_alerts 9003 169.218.154.30 logs/log_20031215.log
• Alert_Console_Application.jar
  Syntax: java -jar Alert_Console_Application.jar hostname 9003 Example: java -jar Alert_Console_Application.jar falcon 9003 For running as an applet see the full manual page

11.2 Alert server scripts

These are in the directory scripts under the main alert toolkit installation directory.

• scripts/console_JAVA.sh
  No parameters
• scripts/console.sh
  Parameters should not be needed
• scripts/end_alert.sh
  Syntax: end_alert.sh KEY [ optional-reason-text ]
  Example: end_alert.sh TEST_1
• scripts/raise_alert.sh
  Syntax: raise_alert.sh KEY "message-text" critical | warning [AUTOMATE parms]
  Example: raise_alert.sh TEST_1 "Test alert" warning
• scripts/start_alertserver.sh
  Syntax: start_alertserver.sh start | stop | restart | status
• scripts/start_server_and_tailtask.sh
  Syntax: start_alertserver.sh start | stop | status [ all | only | tailtask ]
• scripts/clear_all_alerts.sh
  Syntax: clear_all_alerts.sh

11.3 Sample batch jobs

These are in the directory samples under the alert toolkit installation directory. Refer to the README file in that directory for the purpose of the sample scripts.

11.4 Automation samples

These are in the directory automation under the alert toolkit installation directory if provided.

• automation/tools_library is the script library used by all the scripts, you customise directory paths in this
• automation/automation_table
  is the file all automation rules are coded in
• automation/actioncmd.sh
  Syntax: actioncmd.sh scriptname subjectname other-parms-for-automation-script
  Example: actioncmd.sh `basename $0` "/var/log/messages" "execparm1" "execparm2"
• automation/is_automated.sh
  Syntax: is_automated.sh scriptname subjectname
  Example: is_automated.sh `basename $0` "/var/log/messages"
• automation/scripts is the directory all automation scripts must be stored in
