MultiTail – what a find

I wasn’t looking for this, I was actually looking for a log parsing tool, just hoping
somebody had written one to meet my needs before I start to look at enhancing mine.

Didn’t find any. Lots of log analyzers but nothing usefull I could find that
worked in realtime that was as usefull as mine; for what I want to use it for anyway.

But one of the hits returned

http://linux-administration-pro.com/2011/03/multitail-log-parser/
which found multitail.

And while tail itself (on Linux anyway) can tail multiple log files, with lots
of files all but the last two tend to disapear of the top of the screen.
Multitail does a much better job of fitting everything onto the screen.
I won’t bother with screenshots, there are good enough examples of its use
on the link above.

To install multitail on Fedora simply “yum install multitail”,
its in the repository.

Adding this one to my toolkit.
